australian-faith-community-nurses-associationAFCNA exists to encourage, support and equip Christian nurses to be involved in health ministry within their faith community and in the local community that the church serves. AFCNA is the peak body for Faith Community Nurses (FCN’s) who are also sometimes known as parish nurses, pastoral care nurses or pastoral nurses.  Some of the functions of an FCN include – providing access to health information, services and support in the local community, health promotion activities, case management and training and coordinating of volunteers.  Australian Faith Community Nursing began in Adelaide, South Australia in 1996. It is an Australian organisation that recognises the unique opportunities for health ministry in this country. We currently have around 30 – 40 members based in all states and territories except the Northern Territory..
